==Selling items in the RuneScape world==
RuneScape takes place in the fantasy-themed world of Gielinor; no overall plot exists, although quests and NPC interaction reveal conflicts within the world.
RuneScape has an active economy based around tokens referred to variously as coins, gold, gold pieces (from which comes the abbreviation GP), or gp. Unfortunately, the economy is in chaos, as there is no tax system and no limit to the number of coins in circulation.

Common abbreviations for money (note 1 can be replaced with any number):
{{ToC}}
*1 gp = One gold piece
*1k = One thousand gold pieces
*1mil = One million gold pieces (somewhat rare)
*1bil = One billion gold pieces (very rare, the result of getting really, really lucky at the barrows)
*1tril = non existent, as the max gold pieces you can have is 2 billion, unless this is in the form of many party hats.

Scammers: They will try to trick you out of your items. This is ILLEGAL! Their evil methods are:
[[Category:RPG]]
*Quick switch method. Example: They change 100mill to 100k or something similar. (This was done with leaf bladed spears and Guthan Warspears, but Leaf Bladed Spears have become un-tradable in a recent update.)
*Armor Trimming. You CANNOT trim armor, trimmed armor comes from a mini-game. Anyone who says they can trim armor is a liar.
*"Drop your items and press Alt and f4!" A scammer may say that this will double the items, but instead it just exits your account - without your items.
*Remember, there are evil scammers out there, with many sick minded methods, so BE VILIGANT! And report scammers (to lower Runescape's idiot population).

Hackers: In runescape, people refer to password thieves as hackers. Their arsenal of injustice includes:
*"Jagex blocks your pass look here ******** try it!" No they dont, unless its offensive language. They just typed in a bunch of *s. Tell anyone not to fall for this, and report him immediately!
*"I am an undercover mod, give me your password and you won't be banned." not only does he break rule 3, he breaks rule 5. Report him for either one. Even if he is a mod. Even if he's one of JAGEX STAFF!
*Remember never to give out that password! Also, beware of fake downloads and evil fansites, use a different password there.

Autoers: These guys use third party software to keep their account on doing something (mining, smithing, etc.) while they're away.
*Autoers usually have default clothing and odd names. They are also usually level 3.
*Not everyone is an autoer. Sometimes you may find a level 3 skill pure.
*Autoers won't talk. Randoms are their bane.
EXAMPLE:
Iamanidiot37: *Starts autochopping*
Tree Spirit: Leave these woods and never return!
Iamanidiot37: *Keeps chopping  and gets totally MURDALIZED*
Iamsmart37: *Reports Iamanidiot37*
(If Iamanidiot37 or Iamsmart37 is your username, tell me and I'll change it.)

== Other facts ==
The most ever players recorded on RuneScape at one time is 280,000.

RuneScape has a number of servers in different countries, each of which can host up to two thousand players. This allows for a massive amount of social interaction.

Every holiday season, Jagex inserts a seasonal update into the game. For instance, in Christmas 2005, it was possible to gain bobble hats and striped scarves, which would now be worth hundreds of thousands GP if if were able to be sold. The rare items of holiday drops that were tradable are now worth many million GP. Jagex now makes the holiday items untradable to stop people from making money too easily off them.
