Template:All Game Nav This is a basic guide of Call of Duty 2's weapons.
Russian
Tokarev TT-33
This is the Russian pistol. Though not very powerful, and with scarce ammo, this weapon has the fastest reload time.
PPSh-41
This submachine gun has the largest ammo capacity with 71 rounds. It is moderately powerful, and has a very fast rate of fire, though it is quite inaccurate. Excellent for the "spray and pray" people, and for clearing out rooms.
PPS-42
This is a submachine gun with a 35 bullet clip and greater accuracy than the PPsh
Mosin-Nagant M1891/30
This is a bolt action rifle with five rounds. It is quite powerful. Has a scoped variant.
Tokarev SVT-40
This is a semi-auto rifle, with 10 rounds a clip. It is useful in more assault based missions, but because it is not very accurate at long ranges, it is not a good sniping rifle. However it can be used for rapid and very accurate fire.
RGD-33 Grenade
British
Webley Mk.IV
It is the most powerful pistol, but ammo is extremely scarce. It can hold 6 rounds, and can kill with two body shots.
Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I
This is probably the best bolt action rifle, with a 10 round maximum capacity. It reloads in increments of 5 It is quite quick to fire by bolt action standards, and can come in a scoped variant.
Sten Mk.II
This submachine gun is very accurate, but not very powerful. Found mostly on the European British campaign.
M1A1 Thompson
This is the default submachine gun, and does not have a very big clip size (20 rounds). It is okay in its power, and moderately accurate. It fires very rapidly and has a very fast reload time.
Bren LMG
This weapon is a light machine gun. It is quite powerful, but has a lot of recoil. Ammo is relatively scarce, yet it is well worth it. Reload and melee time is slow. Unusually, its recoil drags its crosshair down, not up.
No. 36 Mills Grenade
Anti-aircraft gun
Can only be used against aircraft. Hard to aim.
American
M1911A1 Colt .45
It is the American pistol. Reliable, and pretty similar to the Luger.
M1903A4 Springfield
The American bolt action, it is quite useful, It is only scoped.
M1 Garand
A semi-auto rifle. It cannot be reloaded before the 8 round clip is used up. Reloads and fires rapidly.
M1 Carbine
This gun is very similar to the Garand, but can be reloaded in the middle of a clip, making it more useful. It carries 15 rounds instead of 8 and is slower to reload.
M1A1 Thompson
This is the default submachine gun, and does not have a very big clip size (20 rounds). It has moderate accuracy and power. It fires very rapidly and has a very fast reload time. Dump in favor of the bigger clip-sized and more common MP40 or an assault rifle like the BAR or the MP44.
M1918A2 BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle)
Very accurate gun. However it only has a 20 round clip and hinders the player's speed. It also has good power but reloads slowly.
M3 Grease Gun
Multiplayer only. It has a 32 round clip and is more accurate than the Tommy but less than the BAR. It is difficult to use the iron sights but player is mobile while using.
Browning M1919A4
Just like the German MG42, though a little slower.
Mk.2 'Pineapple' Grenade
German
Luger P08
The German pistol. It is quite common, and is most often used by German soldier who are almost dead against you.
MP40
With a 32 round clip and abnormal accuracy. It is not quite as accurate as the MP44 but the player is faster while carrying.
Sturmgewehr 44
It has a 30-round clip and deals same damage for the higher accuracy. However, ammo can be hard to find at times, since most Germans carry a MP40.
Mauser Karabiner 98k
The bolt action rifle, it is also very common to find. It is very similar to the Russian Mosin Nagant, and has a scoped variant.
Gewehr 43
This is the semi-auto rifle, and is just like the Tokarev SVT-40. However, the Gewehr also comes in a scoped variant, though it is quite inaccurate for a sniping weapon.
MG42
This is a mounted machine gun. It deals great damage, is quite accurate, and has infinite ammo. However, it tends to throw dust and splinters around, making it hard to see the target at times. Spray for a while, then stop so you can see your target. It helps to automatically fire at anything that turns your targeting reticule red.
Panzershreck
The anti-tank weapon (bazooka), it is not very useful against infantry. You should only use this against tanks and half-tracks, then dump it when you're all done demolishing them.
Flak 88
This is a large cannon that hurls a bunch of flak around. Can decimate a horde of infantry if used properly. It takes some time to reload and swivel, so be careful.
Mod.24 Stielhandgranate
The most common grenade in the game.
All factions
Winchester M1897 Trench Gun
A shotgun available to all factions but only in multiplayer.
Smoke grenades
The smoke is either blue or green. Useful for retreat or getting across machine gunners.
Strategies
- It is good to have a good combination of weapons. A rifle and a submachine gun is a good standard combo.
- German weapons should be your first choice, as ammo is plentiful for them.
- Grenades are your best friends. Use them to clear away MG42 nests, or a room full of Nazis.
- Pick up scoped rifles whenever you can. They are more accurate, and allow you to hit people from farther away.
- You can spray a mounted machine gun, but it throws around smoke and splinters, so there's more incentive to just fire enough to kill. If you'd like to spray, oscillate your crosshair around and focus where it turns red, since you won't be able to see your target anyway.
