This page is a collection of unusual codes that you can enter on the password screen of the NES version of Metroid. With the exception of the first code, they are purely coincidental and were not intentionally programmed into the game. Note that the capital letter O has a dot in the middle, while the number 0 does not.

NOTE: Use a ZERO in the word B0MB, not an 'O' .

NOTE: Both mini-bosses are defeated so only Tourian is left

  • Weapons: Ball, Long Beam, Bomb, High Jump Boots, Varia, special Ice Beam, Screw Attack.
  • Energy Tanks = 4 / Missiles = 255 (55 after collecting any missiles or upgrades)
NOTE: Your Ice Beam projectile looks (but does not behave) like the Wave Beam!

  • Energy Tanks = 1 / Missiles = ???
  • While you begin with the Bombs, you must still collect the Maru Mari.
  • The Varia does not exist, and cannot be collected.
  • Kraid is dead and Mother Brain is not present. When you reach her, you will only see the message telling you that you must escape, but there is no time limit.

Start in Tourian with suitless Samus and:
  • Weapons: none
  • Energy Tanks=1 / Missiles = 48
NOTE: You will be trapped in Tourian because you do not have the Maru Mari, and you can't kill the Metroids.
