Characters[edit]

Exzisus (エクスザイサス)[edit]

This astronaut, who looks somewhat like a precursor to Namco's Beraboh Man, is the protagonist of the game; you must guide him through each of its four stages and on to victory. Pressing your Firing Button will make him simultaneously fire a shot from his gun (which changes colour as he collects powerups) and drop a missile from his jetpack on the enemies, while pressing the Option Button makes him launch his bird- and dog-like robots at the enemies (if he's got them) - and to the left is how he shall appear normally, while to the right is how he will appear after he collects an "A" powerup, and transforms, into a Darius-like turbo jet (top: without robots, middle: with bird-like robot, bottom: with bird- and dog-like robots). If Exzisus is hit in his jet form, he will revert back to his normal form; if he is hit in his normal form, he will die and be sent back to a preset point in the stage. He will receive an extra life at 100,000 and every 150,000 points thereafter by default - and the "MAP" indicator in the top-right also shows his current position in the stage (when he reaches a boss at the end of a stage "MAP" will become "DMG" and the ball will disappear as it becomes the boss's damage meter).

Powerups[edit]

Powerup Name Description
Laser Light Blaster (レーザーライトブラスター) Self-explanatory.
Disruption (ディスラプション) The laser blaster fires in three directions.
Missile (ミサイル) Guided land missiles (for picking up 1 M), guided air missiles (for picking up the second M).
Full Automatic (フルオートマチック) By pressing both buttons player can fire blaster.
Aerodynamic Power (エアロダイナミックパワー) Player transforms into a turbo jet.
Destruction (デストラクション) All enemies on the screen are destroyed.
Option (オプション) Bird-like robot appears (for picking up 1 O), dog-like robot appears (for picking up the second O). These robots help the player.

In some versions of the game, there was also a "B" (Barrier) powerup, written in Katakana as バリア, which allowed Exzisus to withstand four enemy hits before dying; it doesn't appear in the version for this guide, and it's also worth noting that the bird- and dog-like robots look like this: , .

Bosses[edit]

STAGE 1: Gold Moai (ゴールドモアイ) - When that texting, "GOLD MOAI. AIM AT THE GREEN PARTS ON THE FOREHEAD." appears on the screen, Gold Moai will walk into view from the right side of the screen as the "MAP" indicator becomes his damage meter and he begins spitting (and launching) orange projectiles at you from his mouth and belly; once you have fired off enough shots at his head to destroy it, you will have to aim for his belly. Once you have fired enough shots at his belly, to destroy it, he shall explode, and fall down off the bottom of the screen - and you shall then receive a 10000-point bonus as Exzisus dematerializes and starts flying diagonally upwards at a high speed (if he was unfortunate enough to take one hit after collecting an "A" powerup and be returned to his regular humanoid form, a surfboard will fly into view from the left side of the screen, and he will get onto it) as he proceeds to the second stage. You will also receive 10 points for every hit you should land on him, and because he takes 400 hits to defeat he is worth a total of 4000 points.

STAGE 2: Mechanical Yeti (メカニカルイエティ) - When the text of "MECHANICAL YETI. SHOOT THE RED PARTS ON THE EYES AND BELLY." appears on the screen, the Mechanical Yeti shall walk into view, from the right side of the screen, while spitting orange projectiles at you from his mouth and firing purple lasers at you from his belly; once you have fired off enough shots at his head to destroy it, you will have to aim for his belly. Once you have fired enough shots at his belly to destroy it, his body will explode then fall down off the bottom of the screen, but his smoking head will fly off it, and start flying round the screen while spitting more orange projectiles at you from its mouth - and once you have fired enough shots at the head to truly destroy it, it will explode and fall down off the bottom of the screen. You will now receive another 20000-point bonus as Exzisus dematerializes, and starts flying diagonally upwards at a high speed, for a second time (again, if he was unfortunate enough to take a hit, then get returned to his regular humanoid form, a surfboard will fly into view from the left side of the screen and he shall get onto it) as he proceeds to the third stage; you will, again, also receive 10 points for every hit you should land on him, and because this boss only takes 235 hits to defeat he is worth a total of 2350 points.

STAGE 3: Red Scorpion (レッドスコーピオン) - When the text "RED SCORPION. AVOID HIM AND SHOOT HIM IN THE MOUTH." appears upon the screen, Red Scorpion will walk into view from that right side of the screen while firing (and spitting) orange projectiles at you from his claws and mouth, as well as firing purple lasers at you from his tail; once you have fired enough shots at him to defeat him, he shall explode, and fall down off the bottom of the screen. You'll then receive a third 30000-point bonus, as Exzisus dematerializes and starts flying diagonally upwards at a high speed, for a third and penultimate time (once again, if he was unfortunate enough to take a hit and then get turned back to his regular humanoid form, and his two robots returned to their regular bird- and dog-like forms with him a surfboard shall fly into view from the left side of the screen and he will get onto it) as he proceeds to the fourth and final stage - and you'll (once again) also receive 10 points for every hit you land on him, but he only takes 200 hits to defeat so is worth 2000 points.

STAGE 4: Violet Salamander (バイオレットサラマンダー) - When the texting: "VIOLET SALAMANDER. HIT MOUTH WHILE AVOIDING RING LASER AT CENTER SCREEN." appears on the screen for a final battle, Violet Salamander shall then slither into view from the right side of the screen and begin spitting ring-lasers (and orange projectiles) at you from his mouth, while firing purple lasers at you from his tail; once you have fired enough shots at him to defeat him, he shall explode and fall off the bottom of the screen. You will then receive a fourth 40000-point bonus, as Exzisus dematerializes and starts flying diagonally upward at a high speed for the fourth and final time (yet again, if he was unfortunate enough to take a hit after collecting that fifth "A" powerup and be returned to his regular humanoid form, and his two robots returned to their regular bird- and dog-like forms with him, a surfboard shall fly into view from the left side of the screen and he'll get onto it) as what is the game's ending theme starts to be heard from the Yamaha YM-2151 - and he will now rematerialize (always in his human form, and facing away from the camera) as the text "YOU DOMINATED THESE FOUR DEVILISH PLANETS. LET'S GO THE NEXT WORLD. THIS GAME IS FICTION STORY.", appears upon the screen. He will then turn to face the camera and wave before dematerializing and continuing to fly diagonally upwards at a high speed; the game will then start over again. You will (yet again) also receive 10 points for every hit you land upon this final boss - and because he takes 305 hits to defeat, he is worth a total of 3050 points.
