TransWiki?!

• Do not transwiki - It is true that both RuneScape into [[wikicities:c:runescape]] use GFDL, but comparing Wikibooks:Community Portal and [[wikicities:c:runescape:RuneScapeWiki:Community Portal]] show that the two projects have different policies. For example, only Wikibooks enforces [[Wikibooks:Neutral point of view]]. (Some other Wikicities have it, for example [[wikicities:c:mac:WikiMac:Neutral point of view]].) The Wikibooks:Forking policy specifically excludes forks where one fork is not on Wikibooks. Further, [[meta:Transwiki]] is only intended for [[meta:Wikimedia]] projects, and Wikicities is not a Wikimedia project. (Though it does use [[meta:MediaWiki]], which is different???) Is Pita Bread Bread?

In the Cooking Guide Does the pita bread go in the bread category? how do you make pita bread? I can only find Level and HP on Pita Bread. --Nathan8225 22:36, 27 August 2005 (UTC)

Members RuneScape quests

"Used with permission from JustRS"??

Some of the quest guides, like the Tree Gnome Village guide, says that it is "Used with permission from JustRS". Also, it tells that you MUST give credits to JustRS if you copy the guides. I don't know much about the GNU Free Documentation License, but is this legal, following the GFDL? Or can users now use the guides as they wish since it's now released under GFDL? -Aliensvortex 18:28, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Hm... I think that's a violation, because it's still copyrighted technically. I think you have to actually ask JustRS for permission to release it into the free domain for editing and such anyway. So I believe it's conflicting there... --RBlowes 00:08, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

It is both legal and obligatory to credit the authors of any GFDL-licensed work; see GFDL section 4, letters B and I. Maybe some lawyer can find a technical problem between the GFDL and the license of JustRS, but I think that it is okay to have a requirement to credit JustRS.

I think that there is a misconception among some users, who incorrectly believe that the GFDL has no attribution requirement. In particular, some users copy from Wikipedia to Wikibooks, without mentioning that the content comes from Wikipedia, thus effectively plagiarising. --Kernigh 04:34, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup

The whole thing needs a cleanup. Information isn't correct in some areas and links take to incorrect places. Information under the Bestiary and the guides is inaccurate and needs to be fixed. --Richard x

This book is now a mess. I put a cleanup tag on it because readers currently will not be able to find pages. We have duplicate pages at Fishing and RuneScape/Skills/Fishing; the latter name "starting with RuneScape/" is the best one. --Kernigh 00:47, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

I have merged some of the content that Richard x moved out of the naming space of the RuneScape wikibook and into the main Wikibooks area as independent modules (which they were not). I have been careful about what is the more "advanced" version of this content and tried to keep the best of duplicate pages, merging page histories as well. Earlier version of each page can now be found in the history. I'm going to try and do this for this whole Wikibook but it will take some time. --Rob Horning 15:10, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

A lot of the quest guides just give general information about the quest, with only some giving actual walkthroughs for the quests and a lot are devoid of any info. Perhaps some dedicated people could work on this?

• These ones you are talking about are members quests. I can try fixing them up sometime, but I want to focus on the skills first. It'll be some time before I get to the quests.Richard 14:21, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Editing Summaries

Can you guys use summaries when you've finished editing? It's that box just above the save page button. Say like "fixed spelling error" if you fixed a spelling error, just so that I know what was done without going over the whole thing. Thanks. Richard 23:06, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

"You" or "Player"?

In the articles, should we say "You mine the rocks." or "The player mines the rocks."? Richard 23:23, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

• I've decided that all guides say "player" instead of "you". So, say you typed "You must then kill it." Now, revise it to say "The player must then kill it." I'm undecided on quests. Richard 23:20, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

RuneScape/Guides/Cheats

This module was recently transwikied from Wikipedia. It is also the target of a very large number of vandalism attacks (three different attacks today alone), so I am going to make special mention of it for other admins.

The question I am offering here is if this page should simply be deleted altogether (as it duplicates partially several similar pages in this Wikibook already) or is there a place for content like this? Please either incorporate this page within this Wikibook, or mark it for deletion if there is no useful material that can be added to this Wikibook.

I had no idea that this game was so popular, and there certainly has been quite a bit of traffic coming here to Wikibooks specifically for this content. Good work to all of the contributors here! --Rob Horning 02:42, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
