Each player has a choice for which faction that they want to use. There is an option before playing that game, known as Roleplay mode, where once you have picked the good or evil side, you will not be able to play with the units or buildings associated with the side opposite to you, the Gondor player won’t use Orc units or use evil heroes and vice versa.
