Categories[edit]

It looks as though you are copying and pasting categories from Wikipedia. Please don't do that. We don't use their categories for very good reason. For one thing, we don't include the words "games" or "video games" after every category, because every article on this site is about a video game. We also don't categorize base on where a game is developed, or where it takes place. Please carefully examine our Categories to see what categories we do contain on the site. Some categories are automatically applied for you by various templates that you use. For example, {{rd}} always adds the category of the year of a game's release. Procyon 00:40, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

I just did a massive cleanup sweep of all the new pages you created. You're not helping us if all you are doing is adding info boxes for games, with broken categories and no other content. New game pages should have an intro paragraph with at least a brief description of the game in question. Please put more effort into your contributions. Thank you. Procyon 14:13, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

The purpose of this site[edit]

People come to StrategyWiki in search of game guides and walkthroughs. They are looking for information that they can't typically find on other sites. We're not a database of every game that's been released. If all I wanted to know was who released a game, when and for what system, I could go to Giant Bomb, IGN, or any other number of sites that contain that information. By adding a new page for games with a filled in Infobox and no other information, you're not adding anything to the site that users can't find anywhere else. At a minimum, a new game page should have:

  • A filled in Infobox.
  • An introductory paragraph describing the game, and any notable details about it.
  • An image of the box art that the game is shipped in included in the Infobox.

If a user comes along and wants to learn more about, say, Dead or Alive 6, they're going to find the nearly empty page you created, and be upset.

Please stop adding new game pages unless you are planning to submit meaningful and interesting content to go along with them. I am much more interested in seeing what advice you have to offer players about all of these games than simply generating game pages that don't provide readers with useful information. Thanks for understanding. Procyon 19:26, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

Image uploads[edit]

Please see our policy on image naming and categorization. For consistency and ease of use throughout the wiki, image names should contain the name of the game or its abbreviation and a one or two word description. All images also need the appropriate categories added, as well as the guide-specific image category (e.g. [[Category:Game Name images]]). Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — Procyon 03:02, 25 December 2019 (UTC)
